Castlemaine and surrounds

In the afternoon I headed back to Castlemaine to visit the art gallery and museum.  I did not find the gallery very intersesting, but the museum had a good collection of items, including china, glasswear and metalwork.

After that I went to a number of interesting sights in the area.

Pool at base of Turpins Falls. Normally popular for swimming, but currently closed due to blue green algae.

The remains of Red Hill – the water sprays were used to wash away huge amounts of earth, turning the hill into a hole.
