Hoi An: lantern making and Tra Que vegetable village

Tra 20 June

The day started with a lantern making class, where I got to make my own traditional silk lantern.  I then went for a bike ride to a village that grows herbs and vegetables.

The lantern making workshop is in an old temple.
Inside the workshop – the workers here seemed pretty happy, with frequent bouts of singing and laughter.
My completed lantern. It only took 2 hours, compared to the workers 20 minutes.
Tra Que Village – the houses are arranged around a large herb and vegetable garden.
It was the middle of the day so only a few workers were out.
The village is surrounded by river
I stopped at a nice restaurant for lunch – these are fried wontons with tropical salsa
Pork and vermicelli soup
On the other side of the main road there was another garden surrounded by houses
A nice sunset to end the day

    1. It seems to be a traditional dish, I think salsa is just a translation we understand (although I could be wrong). It was not spicy, I think a mix of tomato, onion and mango mostly. Almost a chutney.
