Belleville is an 1860s house which has been lovingly restored by the current owners. The garden was open as part of the Open Gardens scheme, and the owners were generous enough to also show us inside the house, which had been restored to original features where possible. Particularly interesting

The Pyrenees Region around Avoca is home to a huge number of vinyards and wineries. Unfortunately when on a solo driving holiday wine tastings are not much of an option – which is why I was thrilled to find that Avoca was hosting Pyrenees Unearthed, a Food and wine festival

This morning I took a trip to St Arnaud, a nice town with a number of older buildings. The main reason I headed out there was to visit Autralia’s only bible museum. They have an amazing collection of bibles and associated artifacts, including some beautiful illumination and decorated covers.

In the afternoon I headed back to Castlemaine to visit the art gallery and museum. I did not find the gallery very intersesting, but the museum had a good collection of items, including china, glasswear and metalwork. After that I went to a number of interesting sights in the area.

Today started off in Maldon, a beautiful small town with tree lined streets and filled with old shops and houses. There are also a number of old mining sites around the town, some of which are interesting, but mostly they consist of various holes and heaps of dirt. I

The first stop of the day was at the Creswick Woolen Mills. They have a display showing how they make their products – I know a lot about how it is produced at a craft level, and seeing the way the same techniques are used in the industrial machines
